Companies collaborate to accelerate commercial deployment of 5G Technology

Keysight Technologies, Inc., a leading technology company that helps enterprises, service providers and governments accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world, announced that Sprint has selected Keysight’s 5G network emulation solutions to validate the performance of 5G new radio (NR) mobile devices, accelerating U.S. 5G commercial deployment of fixed wireless access (FWA) and enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) applications.

This collaboration leverages Keysight’s 5G Protocol and RF Carrier Acceptance Toolsets – part of the company’s suite of 5G network emulation solutions – to optimize the end-users’ experience while accessing 5G services on the mobile operator’s network. In addition, the collaboration has resulted in a carrier-specific test plan covering both protocol and radio frequency (RF) tests in frequency range 1 (FR1). The test plan supports a wide range of use cases and mobility scenarios, including voice calls, access to data intensive applications and battery life to ensure new 5G NR devices deliver a superior subscriber experience.

Keysight’s 5G Carrier Acceptance Toolsets support a leading number of carrier acceptance 5G NR RF and protocol test cases as mandated by Sprint and other major U.S. mobile operators. Sprint also uses Keysight’s Nemo RAN analytics software solutions to automate the acceptance of new 5G sites, leading to faster network implementation and improved quality of service.

“Keysight is pleased to support Sprint’s nationwide launch of commercial 5G services with our 5G network emulation solutions for device acceptance,” said Kailash Narayanan, vice president and general manager of Keysight’s Wireless Test group. “Keysight’s 5G test solutions, adopted by the world’s leading chipset and device makers, enable major carriers such as Sprint to confirm that their new 5G NR devices operate with superior performance on their networks.”

Keysight’s 5G network emulation solutions enable device makers in all key markets, including the U.S., Japan, South Korea, Europe, and China, to address 5G design challenges. The solution suite provides early access to a comprehensive range of test cases on a common platform. By addressing global test requirements on a single solution platform, Keysight enables the mobile industry to achieve rapid validation of device performance and consistent results, accelerating certification of 5G multi-mode devices in different form factors.
