AAF (American Air Filter), a Daikin group company, the world’s largest clean air solutions provider has brought S-Trap, a bolt-on prefilter for air handling units, engines and other machinery for areas with sand or dust storms or with exposure to heavy dust loads. S-Trap has a smart design to optimize the space, weight, and installation to the existing AHUs and increase the life of next stage filters.
Dust storms arise when a gust front or other strong wind blows loose sand and dirt from a dry surface. Dust storms are made up of a multitude of very fine particles which are between 0.08mm and 1mm which also means 0.0032 and 0.04 inches in size.
The S-Trap filter removes airborne particles by inertial separation and is normally self-cleaning. HVAC systems for industry applications that face shutdowns due to severe dust storms can save on their energy cost by protecting their air handling units by installing inertial filters, AAF S-Trap.
It maintains very high efficiency at operating points that considers pressure loss capabilities of existing Air Handling Units and is, therefore, suitable for retrofit situations. S-Trap is built to withstand harsh environments. It is rust-free, self-cleaning, rigid design for stiff stacking and equipped with long-lasting materials.

- Fully welded design and is mainly meant for new projects/for retrofit in case space is not a constraint
- STHD casing and other critical parts are made from thicker 3mm steel and welded together to ensure durability, vibration resistance, and support during harsh conditions.
- It will be produced from mild steel or stainless steel
