To boost Cybersecurity Automation Fortinet Announces Investment in UBIqube

Fortinet the global leader in high-performance cybersecurity solutions, on May 23, announced a strategic investment in UBIqube.

UBIqube is a Fortinet Fabric-Ready Partner that provides a software solution for network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN) orchestration.

    • Strategic investment demonstrates Fortinet’s commitment to supporting an open ecosystem with security automation across multi-vendor environments.
    • Investment will enhance ongoing product development and integration, go-to-market and distribution strategies.
    • Fortinet is investing along with co-investors Fujitsu (TYO: 6702) and NTT DOCOMO Ventures.

Security Orchestration and Automation for Multi-Vendor Environments

Fortinet’s Security Fabric and UBIqube’s MSActivator jointly enable service providers and enterprise customers to rapidly provision, manage and automate security services. The combined solution not only reduces operational complexity and costs, but also enhances design flexibility and service customization. Furthermore, UBIqube’s abstraction middleware technology allows it to easily embed into Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, thus complementing Fortinet’s strategy to deliver automated security for the IoT through device visibility and strategic network segmentation.

“UBIqube’s vision is to democratize the design of services over networking and security technologies, and a critical factor is augmenting strategic alliances with market-leading technology providers like Fortinet,” said Nabil Souli, chief executive officer of UBIqube. “Fortinet’s investment in UBIqube coupled with expanding our existing Fabric-Ready technology alliance, makes us well-poised to get to the next level of accelerated growth and assure advanced security services at scale for our global enterprise and service provider customers.”

Fortinet’s investment in UBIqube, coupled with the expanded partnership, is intended to enhance joint product development and joint go-to-market efforts, including training, sales enablement, and distribution strategies. The investment in UBIqube demonstrates Fortinet’s long-standing commitment to supporting cutting-edge innovations, which includes prior investments in companies such as Centrify, HyTrust and Corsa.
