CyteSi, a Menlo Park–based innovator in digital microfluidics, today announced the successful validation of a next generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation workflow on CyteSi’s proprietary Turing Biosystem D1 platform using NGS library preparation kits from QIAGEN GmbH. The validation was conducted by Intelligent Biosystems in Hangzhou, China, applying its industrial-scale biological data-generation capabilities and integrated workflows to support automated NGS library-preparation performance on the D1 platform.
Compared with conventional manual library preparation, the Turing Biosystem D1 enables fully automated NGS library preparation for up to six samples per run with less than five minutes of hands-on time. By miniaturizing and digitizing key liquid-handling steps, the D1 system can reduce reagent consumption and lower reagent costs by more than 70%, dramatically reduce labour requirements, and help minimize batch-to-batch variance.
These advantages are especially important for clinical diagnostics markets in North America, Europe, and Japan, where cost control, workflow standardization, reproducibility, and operational efficiency are critical to broader adoption of NGS based testing. CyteSi and QIAGEN are positioned to support future NGS workflow adoption through validated kit compatibility and automated library preparation, while Intelligent Biosystems’ validation work demonstrates the D1 platform’s readiness for broader clinical-diagnostics applications.
