PicoQuant’s new CTO strengthens the R&D Department to expand innovative optoelectronic products

Due to its steady growth, PicoQuant has broadened its management structures. In August 2018, Jürgen Breitlow (50) took over from Rainer Erdmann, Managing Director of PicoQuant, the holistic management of the company’s three development areas. This new position strengthens PicoQuant’s efforts to continually provide customers with innovative optoelectonic products of the highest quality. “We are very glad that we were able to hire such an experienced manager for this position”, says Rainer Erdmann. “Jürgen Breitlow has a proven track record in various industries and his holistic approach will enable us to provide customers with the best and most innovative products even faster.”

Breitlow studied Physics at the Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany) where he completed his diploma degree in experimental semiconductor physics. He developed automotive products at Siemens Electromechanical Components from 1994 to 2000. After this period, he joined Neumann and Sennheiser, where his focus was primarily on developing microphones. During a career spanning more than two decades, he formed a philosophy of innovation that enables harmonizing broad range of requirements. In his approach, the process of innovation becomes an integral part of the whole company, from customer requirements to manufacturing. In the words of Mr. Breitlow: “Innovation consists not only in developing new products. One also needs to actively pursue and adapt new technologies to remain a leader.”

PicoQuant’s success is based on extensive research and development activities. Today, the company develops and produces a broad range of optoelectronic components, including picosecond pulsed diode laser, single photon counting electronics as well as a series of turn-key, time-resolved fluorescence microscopy and spectroscopy system. By combining the R&D efforts under a holistic innovation management approach, PicoQuant will be able to offer its customers solutions that are even better adapted to their respective needs than they are today.
