SX9310 SAR Proximity Sensor Controls Human RF Exposure, Now at Mouser,

Mouser Electronics, Inc., the industry’s leading New Product Introduction (NPI) distributor with the widest selection of semiconductors and electronic components, is now stocking the SX9310 SAR proximity sensor from Semtech. The SX9310 is a smart sensing solution that enables smartphone and tablet manufacturers to help protect users from potentially harmful radio frequency (Proximity Sensor) exposure.

The Semtech SX9310 SAR proximity sensor, available from Mouser Electronics, regulates RF exposure to reduce specific absorption rate (SAR) — the measure of RF power that is radiated into the human body when in close proximity to a connected device. The smart sensing solution maintains optimum network connectivity and throughput while complying with SAR regulations for optimized data and voice communication quality of service.

The device features a unique on-chip smart engine designed for human detection and advanced SAR control. The device provides best in-class sensitivity for optimal human presence detection by offering up to three channels of high-performance capacitive sensing inputs, exceptional low-temperature drift for stable measurement, and a combined proximity mode to help minimize the sensing area.

The SX9310 smart sensor features ultra-low power consumption and operates directly from a 2.7V – 5.5V input supply voltage. The device’s built-in I²C serial communication bus port is compatible with the 1.8V host control to help report body detection and proximity and to facilitate parameter setting adjustments. The SX9310 also includes an auto-calibration controller that regularly performs sensitivity adjustments to

Semtech’s SX9310 SAR proximity sensor is optimized to meet stringent emission regulations criteria and SAR safety standards for a wide range of consumer electronics applications, including smartphones, wearables, tablets, notebooks, and mobile hotspots.
