    West Bengal Launches IT & Electronics Policy 2018

    West Bengal’s additional chief secretary (IT) Debashis Sen declared that the new Information Technology and Electronics Policy, 2018 will make Bengal one of the leading states in the IT sector.

    Last week West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee made the announcement of the Information Technology and Electronics Policy at the launch of the Bengal Silicon Valley hub in New Town. The announcement was followed by additional chief secretary (IT) Debashis Sen’s declaration that the IT Policy 2018 will make West Bengal one of the leading states in the IT sector in India.

    Vision of the IT Policy 2018

    In an interaction with the press, State IT Minister, Bratya Basu informed that the new policy will help generate at least one lakh jobs in the next three years. Basu is positive about the revolution happening in Bengal’s IT sector under the aegis of chief minister Mamata Banerjee. He further declared that the state is getting a huge response in the IT segment and the new policy will give a timely boost to this sector.

    The notification stated that the new policy will be operative with immediate effect with focus on 3D printing, big data analytics, animation and gaming, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, cybersecurity, drones, fintech, Industry 4.0, quantum computing among others.
