Avnet and Amphenol Celebrate Milestone 60-Year Collaboration

Avnet and Amphenol have played a pivotal role in the advancement of the high-tech industry. Since 1957, Avnet and Amphenol have collaborated to provide customers in every segment of the global electronics industry with innovative interconnect, passive and electromechanical (IP&E) products and best-in-class design and supply chain services that have enabled the development of more portable, higher-performance, lower-cost and more sustainable technology solutions. To celebrate their milestone six-decade relationship, leaders from Avnet and Amphenol recently gathered at Avnet’s corporate headquarters here for a dinner and exchange of commemorative plaques.

“When you consider the fact that the majority of people within our two companies were not even born when Avnet and Amphenol first started doing business together, it really puts into context just how extraordinary an occasion this is,” said Avnet CEO Bill Amelio. “Amidst all ebbs and flows of life – leadership transitions, technology advances, economic cycles, etc. – here we are today, stronger and more collaborative than ever, and looking forward to many more years of supporting a growing array of customers with state-of-the-art technologies and next-generation solutions.”

Avnet and Amphenol, founded in 1921 and 1932 respectively, each found their calling in the nascent radio market. In 1957, two years before Jack Kilby’s invention of the integrated circuit would set the semiconductor sector ablaze and spark the modern electronics era, Avnet and Amphenol joined forces to support customers in the emerging technology sector. Today, Avnet and Amphenol continue to collaborate to help customers capture the opportunities with trending technologies, such as the Internet of Things.

“From the earliest beginnings of our relationship, Amphenol and Avnet have worked together to enable exciting, new electronics around the world,” said Amphenol CEO R. Adam Norwitt. “Our collective success has been the result of the powerful combination of Amphenol’s leading interconnect technologies, together with Avnet’s incredible capabilities, to reach electronics designers and manufacturers in virtually every corner of the world. We look forward to many more years of continued partnership and success in the future.”
