Latest programmable sealed connectors introduced for data monitoring and IoT applications

Bulgin’s 4000 series of environmentally sealed circular connectors are now available in a ‘smart’ variant from RS Components. They include a programmable memory for data monitoring and IoT applications.

Programmability and over the air updates are via an integrated EEPROM. The connector is not designed to read data output from a sensor, only to identify issues such as an incorrect sensor connection on a network.

The 19.1mm-diameter circular connectors are made from UL94V0-rated flame-retardant materials and have a quick-turn bayonet coupling mechanism for a secure connection without specialist tools. Series options include four-, six- and eight-pole models, with 5A, 125V ratings and 10- and 12-pole connectors with 1A, 50V rating.

The 4000 series is rated to IP66, IP67, IP68 and IP68K to prevent dust and water ingress for use in harsh environments, such as agricultural crop and soil monitoring systems, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) in the oil and gas industry and vehicle automatic numberplate recognition (ANPR). It can also be used for water displays, such as decorative fountains, to connect pumps, lights, cables and control modules.
