Delhi attains its first electric vehicle charging station

Delhi is all close to drive electric vehicles, as Delhi Power Minister Satyendar Jain has inaugurated Delhi’s first electric vehicle charging station at South Extension Part 2. According to the State Government, Aam Aadmi Party, BSES would set up 50 such stations by next year.

The Delhi Government, in its all efforts to make Delhi go green, recently notified the solar policy and the electric vehicle policy for the national capital. The new charging station has been set up with partnering BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL), Gensol Charge Private Limited and Techperspect

It would be easy for the vehicle owners to find the location of smart-charging station, by installing ElectreeFi Mobile App, which will not only show them the location but also allow them to book their charging time in advance, and make online payment.

The charging initiation and session authentication would be done using RFID, SMS and mobile Apps and an alert will be sent if the vehicle connector is not properly connected to the electric vehicle.

The smart public chargers are of 15 kilowatt power and will fully charge a vehicle in one hour.

The tentative cost of charging, including the cost of electricity (as per DERC tariff) and the overheads (parking charges, recovery of equipment cost, etc.) will be between Rs 160 and Rs 200 for a full charge. Which means the consumers will pay Rs 1.60 to Rs 1.80 per km.

Delhi Power Minister Satyendar Jain said, “This will help Delhi go green. A user can save substantially on every kilometre with an electric vehicle. Apart from this, an electric vehicle will lead to savings of over eight tonnes of CO2 annually.”
