Eaton’s Top Focus is on Indian EV Market

Electric vehicle (EV) components and charging infrastructure products are now a top focus area for power management company Eaton India. The company which makes EV fuses and other charging infrastructure products, is betting big on India’s EV market as part of its energy transition “mega trend,” said Syed Sajjadh Ali, managing director of electrical sector, India Eaton.

“This includes solar, wind and EV segments as all our efforts will now go into carbon-neutral sustainable energy,” he added. Eaton, he said, is already manufacturing and exporting EV fuses from its Puducherry plant.

“For EV charging infrastructure we already have products like miniature circuit breakers (MCB), moulded case circuit breakers (MCCB), ring main units (RMU), UPS among others which we are making in India,” he added.

In terms of chargers, Eaton is looking at both collaborations and making its own products. “We will be a significant player in the EV field going forward because the business opportunity is very clearly visible now with EVs,” added Ali.

Eaton has a twin interest in the EV context — EV charging infrastructure across the country where it is focusing on its own set of products and EV fuses in which it already has a market-leading presence. It is focusing on e-four-wheelers and the e-bus space.
