Introducing Low Voltage Precision Hall Effect Latch ICs by Allegro MicroSystems, LLC

Allegro MicroSystems, LLC announces a low voltage family of AEC-Q100 qualified three-wire Hall-effect latches. The APS12205, APS12215, and APS12235 are produced on the Allegro advanced BiCMOS wafer fabrication process, which implements a patented high-frequency chopper stabilization technique. This technique achieves magnetic stability over the full operating temperature range, and eliminates offsets inherent in devices with a single Hall element that are exposed to harsh application environments. This new family of devices is ideal for systems where the sensors will be behind a voltage regulator or that do not require double battery or reverse battery protection.

The APS122x5 family was optimized for the speed and position sensing of ring-magnets (motors/encoders) or other moving/rotating assemblies and is targeted at 2.8 to 5.5V automotive and industrial markets. Key end-applications include motor commutation and speed and direction sensing in automotive window lifts, sunroofs and tail-/lift-gates; white goods; automated window blinds; garage door openers; sliding doors; etc. The new APS12205, APS12215, and APS12235 have the same package, pinout, and magnetic characteristics as the industry-standard A1220, A1221, and A1223, respectively. They are qualified to the same standards, e.g., AEC-Q100, and can operate at temperatures up to 175C°.

All family members are offered in two package styles. The LH is a SOT-23W style, miniature, low-profile package for surface-mount applications. The UA is a 3-pin, ultra-mini, single inline package (SIP) for through-hole mounting. Both packages are lead (Pb) free, with 100% matte-tin leadframe plating.

The APS122x5 family of Hall-effect switches are available with a choice of magnetic switch-points and package. The APS122x5 family of devices complements Allegro’s industry standard A122x family by offering 3.3/5V specific devices.
