Mouser Electronics Sponsors IIT Techfest 2020

Mouser Electronics, Inc., the industry’s leading New Product Introduction (NPI) distributor with the widest selection of semiconductors and electronic components, is proud to once again be a major sponsor of Techfest held at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. Since 2017, Mouser has been a major sponsor of this important event, as well as other IIT annual technical festivals. Techfest 2020 began 8 December, with many sessions available later to stream on demand.

Techfest is the annual science and technology festival conducted by IIT Bombay, with the aim of providing a platform for future design engineers to develop and display their technical expertise. Techfest 2020 will be hosted online, with Phase 1 of 3 starting 8 December. Participants will discover over 20 technology-related workshops focusing on Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, embedded systems, nanotechnology and data analytics.

“By sponsoring Techfest, Mouser strives to empower innovation in engineers of all ages, from providing resources and tools for design engineers to fostering students’ imaginations.” said Mark Burr-Lonnon, Mouser Senior Vice President of Global Service & EMEA and APAC Business. “The Indian Institutes of Technology annual technical fests are highly creative and educational endeavors, and we are very proud of this group of talented innovators and engineers.”

Techfest 2020 includes several competitions designed to spark the imaginations of design engineers to use technology to solve problems. This year, Mouser is sponsoring two key competitions: Aero Vaccine and Cozmo Clench. The Aero Vaccine competition tasks participants with creating conceptual solutions of aircraft to deliver vaccines to rural areas with little to no landing space. For the Cozmo Clench competition, teams must build a gripping robot and obstacle course, and then successfully navigate the robot through the course.

Techfest 2020 is expected to have over 20,000 entrants registered for the online competitions and workshops, with an outreach of 2,500 colleges and universities across the country and 500 colleges from outside India.
