New IT and Electronics cluster in Adityapur by 2019

A software technology park and Jharkhand’s first electronics manufacturing cluster will debut in Adityapur in early 2019, promising an action-packed start for the steel city’s industrial satellite, reported The Telegraph.

Work on both projects started on a war footing as Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) set a fresh deadline to complete infrastructure for the software technology park by December 2018 while Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (Aiada) fixed a March 2019 deadline for the electronics manufacturing cluster.

Talking to The Telegraph on Monday over phone from Ranchi, Siddharth Kumar Rai, joint director of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), said, “The work for software technology park project has received momentum. We are hoping it is operational in January next year.”

The foundation stone for the ambitious STPI project worth Rs 25 crore near Adityapur auto cluster design lab on Tata-Kandra Road was laid in 2015. The project spread on 70,000sqft area was supposed to start in September last year but got delayed due to land allotment issues. But, now those have been sorted out, Rai said.

“IT and allied companies will get space at subsidised rates at the software park. We got quite a few applications from Bangalore and local small and medium enterprises who evinced interest in setting up their units at the software park,” he said.

On the Rs 138-crore electronics manufacturing cluster on 236 acres, Aiada secretary Hari Prasad Keshri said the infrastructure development work would complete in March. “Soon after the infrastructure is complete, we will start allotting space to manufacturing units,” he said.

Keshri added they would conduct a road show in Adityapur on April 12 to generate awareness among firms on the electronic cluster that would have manufacturing units, a trade pavilion, an entrance plaza, a truck park and an administrative building. “State industries director K. Ravikumar and other senior officials of the industry department will attend the event,” he said.

Telegraph reported that for the project, Aiada, the chief promoter of the project, had signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with the department of electronics and information technology (DeitY) under Union ministry of communications and IT. Adityapur already houses an auto cluster that benefits 700 entrepreneurs. President of Adityapur Small Industries Association (ASIA) Inder Agarwal praised the two upcoming projects.

“Adityapur gives industries a good ecosystem and is ideally located to help entrepreneurs export their products as both ports, Paradwip (Odisha) and Haldia (Bengal) are within 250-300km. We heartily welcome both projects,” Agarwal said.
