Photonics Expert Dr. Ana Belén González Guerrero Joins EPIC Team

Ana Gonzalez joins EPIC as Project Leader contributing to H2020 funded projects MIRPHAB, PICS4ALL, PIXAPP, and TERABOARD. Ana has over 15 years experience in the field of photonics and its enabled technologies. Ana is recognized by the research community for her work on surface chemistry modification of silicon photonic devices.

“I am excited to join EPIC and work with industry to bring photonics technologies to the market. The fact that the association represents such a large number of stakeholders, across all photonics technologies, and across all European countries, is particularly attractive.” says Ana Gonzalez.

Jose Pozo, CTO of EPIC, added “Ana Gonzalez is a great addition to the EPIC team. She is a well-known scientist within the photonics community with a good eye for business opportunities. This combination will play a major role in the exploitation of R&D funded projects for the benefit of the European photonics industry. This is, in particular, key for the Pilot Lines for manufacturing of Photonics devices: PIXAPP and MIRPHAB, where the role of EPIC is to identify and interact with users that will benefit from affordable access to state-of-the-art photonics to solve their current technology bottlenecks.”

Ana Gonzalez was previously a researcher at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) in Barcelona (Spain), and a visiting researcher at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg (Sweden). Ana received a Ph.D. degree cum laude by a work conducted to design a novel interferometric sensor and demonstrate its high performance as biosensor. She completed her master’s degree with a thesis focused on the development of an electrochemical biosensor based on Carbon Nanotubes for Point-of-Care Applications. She obtained her B.Sc. in Chemistry at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona as well as a first cycle in Physics.
