Trade-off factor between 12-Bit and 8 Bit Oscilloscope

The waveforms of electronic signals comprised of information which has to be analyzed and oscilloscope is the instrument to display and analyze that waveform. If simply read the difference we find between 12-Bit and 8-Bit Oscilloscope is of 4-Bit, but there are more points to be incorporated. There is always a trade-off between the parameters for adding the new bits. If seen under theoretical calculations the four-bit increment in oscilloscope resolution would produce 16 times improved amplitude dynamic range but with a trade-off which is Bandwidth. Let us know extra functionalities which make 12-bit oscilloscope different from 8-bit.

The DC accuracy is typically 0.5% The DC accuracy ranges from 1.5% to 2%.
4096 possible values can be represented Only 256 values can be represented
Better detect noise and unwanted parts Noise and un-wanted parts can be missed
Effective Bandwidth is limited due to lower maximum clock rate High Bandwidth measurement
With noise, it outshines It runs in normal mode when noise gets added
When no input attached it offers better noise performance It offers same noise performance
