Sony killing Xperia Z series

Japanese smartphone maker, which has been struggling for a couple of years, said that it is killing the Xperia Z range of top-end smartphones. The Xperia Z range of smartphones was launched in early 2013.

The company launched Xperia Z, ZR, ZL, Z Compact and Z Premium models under this portfolio.

“The Xperia Z line has reached its culmination – Xperia X series represents a new chapter and evolution of our product strategy. Whilst the Xperia Z series was all about bringing the best of Sony’s advanced technologies to smartphones, Xperia X series is based on bringing smart, adaptive Sony user experiences across camera, battery performance and hardware / software design,” the company said in an official statement.

The company has introduced a new Xperia X series, which comprises Xperia X, XA and X Performance smartphones.

Xperia X feature a 5-inch Full HD Triluminos display and runs Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor with 3GB RAM and 32GB Rom with support for microSD cards of up to 200GB.

With 4G support, it offers a 23MP rear camera with predictive hybrid Auto Focus and pulse LED Flash along with a 13MP front camera. It is powered by a 2,620mAh battery. There is a dual-SIM version of it with 64GB internal memory.

the Xperia X Performance is powered by Snapdragon 820 processor and 2,700mAh battery. Other specs are similar to that of Xperia X.

Sony Xperia XA sports a 5-inch 720p HD display and is powered by a MediaTek MT6755 processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage which is expandable up to 200GB. It offers a 13MP rear camera with hybrid Auto Focus and LED Flash along with an 8MP front camera. It is supported by 2,300mAh battery.
