Increasing demand for e-mobility solutions / Boost from plug-in hybrid vehicles

HARTING’s rapid charging technology is celebrating its premiere at the Geneva Motor Show (3 to 13 March 2016) on Rinspeed AG’s exhibition stand (hall 6.240). Rinspeed’s latest Etos” concept car is a spectacular application of HARTING’s technology.

HARTING Automotive is developing and producing charging equipment for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. These include mode 2 charging cables, mode 3 charging cables and DC rapid charging plugs with approval and certification for all specific markets and which meet legal requirements worldwide.

HARTING Automotive is currently reporting growing demand worldwide for e-mobility solutions. “Demand for such solutions remains high,” confirmed Marco Grinblats, Business Unit Manager E-Mobility at HARTING Automotive to ELE Times.

The industrial connectivity specialist HARTING has been manufacturing innovative products and solutions for e-mobility for several years based on decades of experience in connection and transmission technology for data, signal and power.

Customers can deploy the equipment in line with their own individual requirements as the HARTING vehicle charging cables are available in all three plug system versions used worldwide (with the corresponding approvals) for the common AC charging interfaces.  The type 1 plug is certified for AC in accordance with UL, CE and JET/PSE, and the type 2 plug for AC in accordance with UL/VDE. The HARTING GB China plug complies with the CQC standard.

The field of e-mobility is therefore becoming ever more important to HARTING as Grinblats predicts that automotive manufacturers will increasingly roll out plug-in hybrid vehicles on the market over the coming years. “To achieve their CO2 balance alone, automotive manufacturers will be launching many more such cars,” Grinblats firmly believes. In order to meet the rising demand, the HARTING Technology Group is currently investing in the expansion of production in Sibiu in Romania, Silao in Mexico and Zhuhai in China.
