    The two-day Photonics PPP Annual Meeting entitled ‘Winning the Future – Europe’s Age of Light’ will also focus on the strategic development for the missions of the PPP in FP 9 – the Research and Innovation Framework Program beyond Horizon 2020.

    The annual gathering will set about defining the challenges that lie ahead in R&I for photonics and its applied fields such as Lasers, Optical Components, Sensors, Network Components, LED’s, Artificial Intelligence and quantum technologies.

    Starting off with an informal gathering at the Museum of Fine Arts, Brussels on Thursday 8th March attendees will be welcomed with an address from Photonics 21 president, and CEO of OSRAM, Aldo Kamper.

    Experts will be on hand to give a series of ‘ignite talks’ discussing the challenges and opportunities of a digitized world in which photonics plays a vital role, including:

    Digitization and Internet of Things – Dr. Heike Riel, Executive Director IBM Research Frontiers Institute, Director IoT Technology and Solutions;

    Digital Transformation for Industry Renaissance – Jean-François Hebert, Vice President Sales Global Accounts High Tech Industry, Dassault Sysèmes SE

    On the unification of the real and the virtual world – Prof. Dr. Michael Totzeck, Fellow Corporate Research and Technology Carl Zeiss AG University of Konstanz;

    Our Way Towards FP9 – Lucilla Sioli, Director Digital Industry, DG CONNECT, European Commission

    Photonics Strategy Process – Aldo Kamper, Photonics21 President & CEO Osram Opto Semiconductor
