Greater usage of Artificial Intelligence to be pushed up by the collaboration of NITI Aayog and Google

Today, artificial Intelligence and machine learning are considered as powerful technologies. AI and ML have created an emergence to help country augment its capacities in improving education system, healthcare, developing innovative governance systems.

These data-driven technologies are fostering up the business scale operations to offer personalized customer experience, and also effectively solving the real-world problems across sectors.

Initiatives

In order to boost the growth of AI and ML by building an ecosystem in India, a Statement of Intent (SOI) has been signed by NITI Aayog with Google. With this, the NITI Aayog aims to focus on research and development in artificial intelligence by way of research grants, training, mentoring and organizing hackathons. A national strategy on AI is to be developed by the NITI Aayog for a greater AI deployment through National Data and Analytics Portal.

How will this work?

Google will train and incubate Indian AI startups in conjunction with its affiliates to help these statups leverage AI in their respective business. Google will offer AI online courses as study groups and develop run courses across Indian cities.

Tailor made training programs will also be conducted for policymakers and technical experts in the government on relevant AI tools which can help streamline government.

R&D

One step next after training, the NITI Aayog and Google will work together to promote research and development initiatives in AI and ML by awarding grants and scholarships to researchers, scholars and university faculty. The two partners – NITI Aayog and Google will also organize a hackathon focusing on solving key challenges faced across sectors including agriculture, transportation/mobility and so forth.
