Mouser Electronics and Toradex Sign Global Distribution Agreement

Mouser Electronics, Inc., the authorized global distributor with the newest semiconductors and electronic components, announces a global distribution agreement with Toradex, a leader in embedded computing. Through the agreement, Mouser now offers Toradex’s Colibri and Apalis families of computer-on-modules (CoMs) based on NXP i.MX series applications processors. All Colibri and Apalis modules are pin compatible within a family to provide simple scalability, and come with the Toradex Easy Installer pre-installed to help engineers quickly install operating systems or demo images. Engineers can also take advantage of Toradex’s support, including a high-quality Yocto Project-based Linux board support package and the new, easy-to-use industrial Linux platform, Torizon.

Colibri iMX8X CoMs are based on the NXP i.MX 8X applications processors, offering up to four 64-bit Armv8 Cortex-A35 cores. Available with a dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® option, Colibri iMX8X CoMs are designed for markets with high-reliability requirements, such as industrial automation, medical, and railway applications. Colibri iMX7 CoMs are based on NXP i.MX 7Dual applications processors, with two Arm Cortex-A7 cores and a Cortex-M4 microcontroller. Advanced security features, in addition to the heterogeneous multicore processing, make the Colibri iMX7 ideal for applications such as power-sensitive edge computing devices, Internet of Things (IoT) gateways, medical devices, and industrial automation.

Colibri iMX6 CoMs are based on NXP i.MX 6 processors with either a dual-core or single-core 1-GHz Arm Cortex-A9 processor. For high performance and low power consumption, the Colibri iMX6 CoMs offer dynamic voltage and frequency switching (DVFS). Colibri iMX6ULL CoMs are based on an NXP i.MX 6ULL processor with a single Arm Cortex-A7 core, and are available with a dual-band (2.4/5 GHz) Wi-Fi ac/a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 5.0 and Bluetooth Low Energy interface. The Wi-Fi module features a connector for an external antenna and is pre-certified for FCC (U.S.), CE (Europe), and IC (Canada).

Apalis iMX8 CoMs are based on the NXP i.MX 8QuadMax or i.MX 8QuadPlus applications processor and are available in a dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth option. The Apalis iMX8 CoMs incorporate high-performance dual-GC7000 GPU with support for OpenCL and OpenVX for accelerated computer vision and machine learning applications. Apalis iMX8 modules are built for harsh environments, with industrial operating temperature support from minus 40 degrees to 85 degrees Celsius and a product availability until 2030. In addition to Torizon, QNX and Android operating systems are available.

Apalis iMX6 CoMs are based on the NXP i.MX 6 processors, which feature a scalable Arm Cortex-A9 processor with up to four cores. With a peak CPU frequency of 1.2 GHz, the Apalis iMX6 CoMs deliver high CPU and graphical performance with minimum power consumption in applications such as medical devices, industrial automation, HMIs, avionics, data acquisition, robotics, and gaming.

In addition to extensive online documentation, Toradex provides an active community and has field application engineers available around the globe. An extensive ecosystem of software and hardware providers and engineering companies simplify product development.
