Diodes Incorporates High-Voltage Hall-Effect Latches AH371xQ Series into Automotive Product Line

In a strategic expansion of its product portfolio, Diodes Incorporated introduces the AH371xQ series of high-voltage Hall-effect latches. Specifically designed for automotive applications, these devices boast a proprietary Hall plate design that significantly enhances performance. The AH371xQ series finds utility in diverse functions such as brushless DC (BLDC) motor control, valve operation, linear and incremental rotary encoders, and position-sensing tasks.

    Versatility for Automotive Systems

Operating within an impressive voltage range of 3V to 27V, with 40V load dump protection, the AH371xQ series offers versatility for integration into a wide array of automotive systems. This adaptability makes them ideal for in-vehicle comfort and engine management applications, including but not limited to window power-lift and sunroof movement, tailgate opening/closing mechanisms, seat adjustment motors, cooling fans, water/oil pumps, and speed measurement.

    Enhanced Design Features

The devices feature a chopper-stabilized design, effectively mitigating the impact of thermal variation and providing superior stray field immunity. With a power-on time of typically 13µs, the AH371xQ series ensures swift and reliable operation. Engineers can choose from six sensitivity options covering 25 gauss to 140 gauss, offering flexibility in magnetic operating (BOP) and magnetic release (BRP) for various sensing distances and magnet types.

Advanced Output Flexibility and Robust Protection

Equipped with open-drain outputs, these Hall-effect latches provide enhanced external pull-up flexibility, accommodating voltages higher or lower than the supply voltage. The AH371xQ series boasts an 8kV human body model (HBM) electrostatic discharge (ESD) rating, demonstrating robust protection. Each device in the series includes a reverse blocking diode, overcurrent protection, and overvoltage clamp features.

    Automotive Compliance and Availability

Diodes ensure the highest standards for these automotive-compliant Hall-effect latches. The AH371xQ series is AEC-Q100 Grade 0 qualified, manufactured in IATF 16949 certified facilities, and supports PPAP documentation. Available in SOT23 (Type S), SC59, and SIP-3 (Bulk Pack) packages, with the AH3712Q also offered in U-DFN2020-6 (SWP) packages, the series is priced at $0.32 in 1,000 piece quantities.

For engineers seeking optimal solutions, the AH371xQ series, along with the complete range of Hall-effect sensors, can be explored using the Hall-effect sensor part selector tool. Diodes’ commitment to innovation and reliability is evident in these advanced additions to its automotive electronics lineup.
