Element14 Expands Semiconductor Portfolio with Nordic Semiconductors’ nPM1300 Power Management IC

In a strategic move to enrich its semiconductor offerings for enhanced device connectivity, Element14 has recently incorporated Nordic Semiconductors’ nPM1300 Power Management IC into its comprehensive portfolio.

The nPM1300 stands out as a streamlined solution for system design, consolidating essential functions crucial for embedded designs into a singular, compact package. Its high-efficiency power regulation not only extends device run times but also facilitates efficient battery charging, all while minimizing the need for additional components.

One of the noteworthy aspects of the nPM1300 is its integration of intelligent system management functions, such as integrated hard reset functionality for one or two buttons, precise battery fuel gauging, a system-level watchdog, power loss warning, and recovery from the failed boot. Traditionally, these functions require discrete components in Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) embedded designs, but the nPM1300 incorporates them seamlessly within a single package.

Key Features of the nPM1300 Power Management IC:

  • 32 – 800 mA battery charger.
  • Two 200 mA buck DCDC regulators.
  • Two 100 mA Load switches, alternatively 50 mA LDO.
  • Five GPIOs.
  • Three LED drivers.
  • Controlled via I2C compatible TWI.
  • USB-C compatibility.

According to Jose Lok, Product Category Director, Semiconductor at Element14, “The nPM1300 is a compelling addition to our portfolio because of the multiple advantages it offers to developers. Every incremental saving in product development time and space accrues to the benefit of the end user, and the broader marketplace.”

Nordic Semiconductor, a key player in realizing the wireless future, is steadfastly committed to ultra-low power wireless technology.

The Intelligent nPM1300 Power Management IC by Nordic Semiconductor is now available through Farnell in EMEA, Newark in North America, and Element14 in APAC, ensuring its accessibility across various regions.
