Infineon Technologies Unveils Revolutionary CoolMOS S7T Product Family with Integrated Temperature Sensor for Enhanced Precision

Infineon Technologies, a leader in semiconductor solutions, has introduced its groundbreaking innovation, the CoolMOS S7T product family. This cutting-edge technology incorporates an integrated temperature sensor designed to elevate the precision of junction temperature monitoring, marking a significant advancement in the realm of electronic applications.

The CoolMOS S7T emerges as the preferred choice for solid-state relay (SSR) applications, offering unparalleled performance and reliability. This is attributed to its exceptional RDS(on) and the inclusion of a highly precise embedded sensor.

    Key Features of CoolMOS S7T:

    1. Integrated Temperature Sensor: The integrated temperature sensor showcases a remarkable 40 per cent improvement in accuracy, providing enhanced monitoring capabilities.
    2. Fast Response Time: Boasting a response time ten times faster than conventional separate onboard sensors at the drain, the CoolMOS S7T ensures swift and precise temperature measurements.

Given the critical role of solid-state relays (SSRs) in diverse electronic devices, the integration of a superjunction MOSFET with a built-in sensor in a single package offers numerous advantages. Infineon’s innovative approach enhances the relay’s overall performance, ensuring consistent operation even under heavy loads. This independent monitoring capability within a multi-device system contributes to heightened reliability.

The technology enables efficient power transistor utilization, resulting in increased performance and precise control over the output stage. In comparison to electromechanical relays, the CoolMOS S7T demonstrates the potential to double the enhancement in total power dissipation and surpass current solid-state triac solutions by over fivefold in terms of efficiency. This improved efficiency and capacity to handle heavier loads contribute significantly to lower power consumption and reduced energy expenses.

The relay’s output stage performance, coupled with a substantial overcurrent threshold, enhances reliability, reducing the likelihood of failures and downtime. The robust switching solution guarantees safer operation, extending the relay’s lifespan and resulting in fewer replacements. Collectively, these advantages lead to reduced maintenance expenses.

Engineering samples, available in both TOLL and starter kits, are set to be accessible starting from February 2024, showcasing Infineon’s commitment to advancing electronic solutions and providing cutting-edge technologies to meet evolving industry needs.
