Stocking the latest mmWave Sensor to address automotive radar systems

Mouser Electronics, Inc., the industry’s leading New Product Introduction (NPI) distributor with the widest selection of semiconductors and electronic components, is now stocking the AWR1843 automotive radar sensor from Texas Instruments (TI). Built with TI’s low-power 45-nm RFCMOS process, the AEC-Q100 qualified AWR1843 ultra-wideband millimeter wave (mmWave) sensor enables exceptional levels of integration in an extremely small form factor in low-power, self-monitored, ultra-accurate radar systems in the automotive space.

The TI AWR1843, available from Mouser Electronics, is an integrated single-chip frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar sensor capable of operation in the 76- to 81-GHz millimeter wave spectrum. TI’s RFCMOS process enables a monolithic implementation of a system with three transmit (TX) and four receive (RX) channels plus built-in phase lock loop (PLL) and analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). The sensor integrates a digital signal processor (DSP) subsystem, based on TI’s high-performance C674x DSP, for radar signal processing, as well as a built-in self-test (BIST) processor subsystem responsible for radio configuration, control, and calibration. An onboard user-programmable Arm Cortex-R4F processor enables object tracking and classification, AUTOSAR, and interface control.

Mouser also stocks the TI AWR1843 BoosterPack, an easy-to-use evaluation board with direct connectivity to TI’s LaunchPad development kits. The BoosterPack contains everything required to start developing software for the on-chip C67x DSP core and low-power Arm Cortex-R4F controller, including onboard emulation for programming and debugging as well as buttons and LEDs for quick integration of a simple user interface.
