RECOM introduces wide-input 30W DC/DC in a miniature package

Packing a 30W rating into a 25.4mm x 25.4mm low-profile case, the new cost-effective REC30E-Z series of DC/DC converters from RECOM also boasts two wide input ranges 9-36V and 18-75VDC. The range does not compromise on performance however, efficiency peaks at over 90%, they have 2kV/1 min isolation, require no minimum load, and have a range of fully regulated single and dual outputs available: 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V, 25V, +/-12V, and +/15VDC.
Due to their advanced thermal and circuit design, the parts operate to high ambient temperatures, for example to 80°C with no derating for the REC30E-4812SZ. With derating and/or airflow, higher temperatures are possible up to the case limit of 105°C. High efficiency is also maintained down to light loads for low standby losses. A shutdown control is included as well as a +/-10% trim pin for single outputs. Full protection is provided against over-temperature along with output short circuits, over-current, and over-voltage while the inputs are surge-rated to 50V and 100V for the two ranges. The series holds safety certifications to IEC/EN 62368-1 and complies with EMC standard EN 55032 class A without additional components and to class B with a simple external filter network. Reliability is typically over 500khrs according to MIL-HDBK 217F, GB at 25°C. The REC30E-Z range with through-hole PCB mounting features a rugged metal casing for excellent thermal performance and shielding and is encapsulated for use in Pollution Degree 2 harsh environments. “These are full-featured DC/DCs despite their low cost and small size,” said Matthew Dauterive DC/DC Product Manager of RECOM. “This will make them attractive in cost-sensitive applications where board space is at a premium but reliability and performan ce cannot be compromised.” He further added, ”Parts include a three-year warranty, and samples and OEM pricing are available from all authorized distributors or directly from RECOM.”
