Meta Connect just wrapped up, and it’s fair to say that it was a resounding success. Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the new Meta Quest 3 (available this fall), the company’s latest and greatest VR headset — a true game changer in the worlds of mixed reality, gaming, enterprise training, learning, and beyond.

Of course, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. made some big news of its own in conjunction with Meta Connect, including the announcement of the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 Platform — its most powerful XR chip to date — which will power the breathtaking immersive experiences on the Meta Quest 3.

Here’s a rundown of all the big Qualcomm Technologies news from Meta Connect

The Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 Platform unlocks breathtaking new worlds

Purpose built for MR and VR devices like the Meta Quest 3, the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 offers more than double the GPU performance than its predecessor. That means that when you’re playing your favorite games or watching your favorite content or learning new skills, stunning graphics come to life right before your eyes.

Imagine: You’re exploring the haunted grounds of Alcatraz while playing “Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord,” and suddenly a floating purple blob with way too many eyes pops out from behind a wall. That might be momentarily scary on a screen, but it’s downright terrifying when playing in the immersive environment enabled by the Meta Quest 3 and the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 Platform.

Next level immersion, more real than ever before. That’s the potential of the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 Platform.

The Meta Quest 3, powered by Snapdragon technology

The Meta Quest 3 is Meta’s most powerful VR and MR headset yet — and the must-have gift of the upcoming holiday season. Transform your living space into an MR playground, where virtual elements blend seamlessly into your physical surroundings. Play a virtual piano, hang virtual art on your walls, or increase the amount of monitors you have in your office to work more efficiently and productively.

The Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 Platform enables the Meta Quest 3 to deliver more beautiful and immersive experiences than ever before. The headset has been redesigned to be thinner and lighter and therefore more comfortable so users can remain in immersive worlds for longer periods of time. The controllers are more ergonomic and more responsive, allowing for improved hand tracking. And the Meta Quest 3 possesses a large VR and MR content library, meaning there’s an immersive experience for everyone to enjoy.

    The Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1

In addition to the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 Platform, Qualcomm Technologies unveiled the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 Platform, its latest processor designed for standalone smart glasses. The AR1 Gen 1 will power the Ray-Ban Meta Collection series of smart glasses, which will allow users to stay in the moment without reaching for their phones. Effortlessly capture stunning photos and live stream high quality videos directly from your glasses. Plus, the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 enables personal-assistant features like real time translation and visual search.

XR is the future, and Qualcomm Technologies and Snapdragon tech are defining it.
