    iWave chooses u-blox JODY-W2 Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi module for its i.MX8 system-on-module and single-board computer designs

u-blox announced that iWave Systems Technologies, an Indian-based hardware design firm, has selected the ublox JODY-W2 multiradio module for its powerful i.MX8 system-on-module (SOM) and single-board computer (SBC) designs. The solutions target complex consumer, medical, and industrial embedded computing applications.

The i.MX8 SOM and SBC solutions are highly integrated computing platforms that are designed for multimedia-focused applications. They boast extensive computing power delivered by a dual cortex A72, quad cortex A53 cores, dual graphical processing unit (GPU) systems, and a 4K H.265 capable video processing unit (VPU).

To meet the diverse and demanding needs in terms of wireless connectivity, the i.MX8 solutions feature a u-blox JODY-W2 host-based multiradio module, capable of concurrently (or separately) delivering IEEE802.11a/b/g/n/ac 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.

“JODY-W2 was the industrial grade Wi-Fi 5 module we were looking for to increase the technological longevity of our product line,” says Abdullah Khan, Managing Director – Engineering, at iWave. “Pin-to-pin compatibility with other members of the JODY-W series will enable us to seamlessly upgrade our products to continually deliver state-of-the-art Wi-Fi connectivity.”

“We are thrilled about this collaboration with iWave that offers our joint customers an easier and faster ride to market with powerful, wirelessly connected industrial IoT applications. iWave have recognized the power and flexibility that the JODY-W series gives them to develop SOMs and SBCs for different tiers and technologies with drop-in compatibility across the JODY form factor,” says Stefan Berggren, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Product Strategy Short Range Radio at u-blox.

iWave’s i.MX8 QuadMax SMARC system-on-module computing platform goes into production in October 2020. Those interested can see the solution in action at the all-virtual NXP Connects event on 20-22 October 2020.
