New Bluetooth Modules unveiled, enabling easy design of IoT Applications

Mouser Electronics, Inc., the authorized global distributor with the newest semiconductors and electronic components, is now offering the EZ-BLE and EZ-BT WICED modules from Cypress Semiconductor. The fully integrated Bluetooth Smart Ready EZ-BT and Bluetooth low energy EZ-BLE Wireless Internet Connectivity for Embedded Devices (WICED) modules simplify the design and development of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, home automation, medical devices, and industrial applications.

The Cypress EZ-BLE and EZ-BT WICED modules, available from Mouser Electronics, feature an onboard crystal oscillator, flash memory, passive components, and a Cypress CYW207xx system-on-chip (SoC) with a 32-bit Arm Cortex-M3 processor. The low-power devices support pulse-width modulation (PWM) and analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) as well as UART, SPI, and I2C serial communication. The EZ-BT module also includes a PCM/I2S audio interface and 512 Kbytes of serial flash memory. The EZ-BLE module is available in a version with 128 Kbytes of flash and 60 Kbytes SRAM memory for over-the-air updates and self-sufficient operation.

The EZ-BT WICED module includes a royalty-free Bluetooth stack compatible with Bluetooth 5.0, while the EZ-BLE WICED modules ship with a royalty-free BLE stack compatible with Bluetooth 4.1. The EZ-BLE modules offer pre-programmed EZ-Serial firmware platform for immediate, easy-to-use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity.

The EZ-BLE and EZ-BT WICED modules are supported by Cypress’ WICED Studio software development kit (SDK), the only SDK for the IoT that combines Wi-Fi and Bluetooth into a single integrated development environment (IDE). The WICED Studio IDE allows for the rapid configuration, development, and programming of Bluetooth applications.

Mouser also stocks the EZ-BLE WICED evaluation board and EZ-BT WICED evaluation board to aid engineers in developing with the modules. The evaluation boards can function either as stand-alone evaluation kits or with Arduino-compatible shields for additional expansion possibilities.
