New Laird Connectivity’s BL653μ Module for Longer-Range Bluetooth LE in Space Applications

Mouser Electronics is now stocking the new BL653µ Modules from Laird Connectivity. The minuscule, highly integrated modules are ideal for harsh environments and space-constrained applications, delivering long-range Bluetooth® Low Energy with NFC. The devices’ multi-wireless capabilities make them a suitable choice for a range of Internet of Things (IoT) applications, including secure medical peripherals, professional lighting, and industrial IoT sensors.

The Laird Connectivity BL653µ modules, available from Mouser Electronics, are powered by the Nordic Semiconductor nRF52833 multi-protocol system-on-chip (SoC), with an Arm® Cortex®-M4F CPU plus 512 Kbytes of flash and 128 Kbytes of RAM for demanding product designs. The BL653μ modules offer exceptional development flexibility with support for the Nordic SDK or Zephyr RTOS, AT command set, and Laird Connectivity’s smartBASIC environment.

The smallest device is only 6.3 × 5.6mm, offering reliable low-power performance and support for a wide range of configurable interfaces, including UART, I²C, GPIO, and USB. Featuring Bluetooth 5.1 mesh capabilities as well as direction finding with angle of arrival and angle of departure, the modules provide outstanding performance in challenging RF wireless and industrial IoT applications.
