Panasonic on Tuesday launched the P66 Mega in India priced at Rs. 7,990.

The dual-SIM (3G+2G) supporting Panasonic P66 Mega bears a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display, and is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz (unspecified), coupled with 2GB RAM.

The smartphone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop skinned with Panasonic Icon UI and houses an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

The P66 Mega bears 16GB of inbuilt storage that can be further expanded via a microSD card (up to 32GB). In the connectivity section, the handset supports 3G, GPS, A-GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.1, and Micro-USB options. Measuring 142.5×70.9×8.4 mm, the budget smartphone is backed by a 3200mAh battery and will be available in Electric Blue, Rose Gold, and Russet Brown colour variants. The handset also features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the front and Asahi Dragontrail glass on the back panel.

The highlight of the smartphone is its support for 21 Indian languages.

“Digital India is about all about bridging the digital divide through technology and connecting people to the digital world in their own language. The growing numbers of mobile internet users in India is proof of the digital aspirations of Indians today. By deploying a multi-language portfolio in our latest device, Panasonic seeks to connect Indians through smartphone technology to the world of opportunities in mobile banking, online shopping, social networking and virtual entertainment,” said Pankaj Rana, Business Head – Mobility Division, Panasonic India during the launch.

The company last month launched its Panasonic Eluga Turbo smartphone priced at Rs. 10,999. The smartphone features a better processor, better rear camera, more RAM, more inbuilt storage, but a lesser battery capacity as compared to the P66 Mega.
