Rohde & Schwarz Showcases the New R&S CMP180 Next-Generation Wireless Device R&D and Production Test Platform

At Mobile World Congress, Rohde & Schwarz offers an exclusive preview of the new R&S CMP180 radio communication test platform. The single-box tester features parallel testing on up to 16 devices. It fulfills cellular and non-cellular multi-signal, multi-technology requirements, making it ideal for mass production environments. In Barcelona, Rohde & Schwarz demonstrates Wi-Fi 6E/Wi-Fi 7 testing with the R&S CMP180.

The new R&S CMP180 radio communication test platform from Rohde & Schwarz is designed to manage multiple parallel signals for both multiple devices and MIMO transmission methods, providing maximum measurement speed at frequencies up to 8 GHz. The analyzer/generator single-box tester covers wireless standards including Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 7 and 5G NR at FR1 frequencies, plus a wide range of legacy technologies. Even though the full-feature launch is planned for late 2021, Rohde & Schwarz is giving a special preview at MWC21, demonstrating Wi-Fi 6E/Wi-Fi 7 testing with the new test platform.

The R&S CMP180 is more than a high-speed mass production tester. Thanks to its excellent RF parameters and high output power, test engineers can use the instrument throughout the entire development phase, from engineering validation tests right through to production. The high-speed non-signaling test method is made possible by predefined test routines known to both the device under test and the R&S CMP180, eliminating the need for interactive communications between the device and the tester during the test procedure. Rohde & Schwarz develops the scripted test routines in close cooperation with chipset or device manufacturers. Since the R&S CMP180 features both a vector signal generator and a vector spectrum analyzer, the tester generates the test signal sequence as defined in the routine, feeds it to the DUT and analyzes the results.

With the R&S CMP180, Rohde & Schwarz expands its single-box tester portfolio to include frequency ranges up to 8 GHz, supporting all anticipated wideband signals up to 500 MHz. The tester features future-proof hardware with excellent RF performance. Two independent RF channels and 16 RF ports support multiple parallel device tests, MIMO transmission methods and technologies.

Rohde & Schwarz demonstrates the new R&S CMP180 at Mobile World Congress 2021 at the Fira Gran Via in Barcelona in hall 3, booth 3K30 as well as online via the Rohde & Schwarz Signals webpage.
