The M12 Power L-coded offers more power in the well-known format

Users save on space as well as interfaces

India, February 22, 2016 — The new HARTING M12 Power offers sufficient power for energy-hungry applications in the field – while boasting a smaller design footprint. Consistent standardisation and new encoding allow users to save on space as well as interfaces.

The ever greater “appetite for energy” in automation caused by a growing number of participants is making new concepts necessary. Besides signals and data, ever more power must also be supplied. In response, HARTING has participated in the development of new industry standards in order to make manufacturer-neutral mating faces a reality. The resulting new IEC 61067-2-111 standard is the basis for future M12 Power connector solutions.

The new, universal mating face with L-coding has also emerged from the adopted standard. At 63V/16A, the 5-pin L-coding achieves 0.75kW of power, making it ideal for small servo motors, field distribution boxes, field-bus-controlled I/O boxes, power supply devices and valve applications.

The PNO views the M12 L-coded as the future standard equipment connector that is slated to completely replace the application area of the existing M12 A-coded and 7/8” solutions. Consequently, in future, a standardised and universal IP65/67 power connector will be able to be deployed.

On the cable side, the well-known HARAX IDC connectors and 360° shielded crimp terminals are available for straight male/female versions. Consequently, HARTING has taken into account a market requirement that extends even beyond the requirements of the relevant IEC 61076-2-111 standard. As a result, at all events this solution does justice to Industry 4.0’s “appetite for energy”.
