Unveiling the energy efficient drive solutions for the agriculture industry

The Grain Tech Expo will be held in Kiev from 19 to 21 February 2019. In the Ukraine, the agriculture industry is an important branch of the economy with a corresponding need for conveyor equipment for grain, pulses, oil seed and fertiliser. NORD DRIVESYSTEMS energy efficient drive concepts for bulk materials make a major contribution to efficient operation of conveyor belts, screw conveyors, trough chain conveyors and elevators in the agriculture sector.

NORD DRIVESYSTEMS supplies reliable, safe and customised drive systems for conveying bulk materials in agriculture. For large conveyor belts, chain conveyors and large capacity bucket elevators the drive experts recommend their durable and low maintenance MAXXDRIVE Industrial gear units. All bearing points and sealing surfaces of the MAXXDRIVE Unicase housing are machined in a single operation. Thanks to their two versions, helical or bevel gear units with flange mounted or push-on housings can be placed parallel or at right angles to the axis in conveyor systems.

They are available in eleven sizes with powers from 2.2 to 4,000 kW and are designed for torques from 15 to 250 kNm. Speed ratios of 5.54:1 to 30,000:1 can be implemented with the modular system. They can be combined with a foot-mounted, high efficiency IE3 motor on a motor rocker or frame and can be connected to the motor via a hydraulic coupling. The practical maintenance package from NORD ensures that the industrial gear units function reliably for long periods even under adverse conditions such as continuous operation, the effects of weather and abrasive dust.

Nordac Link: Flexible and intelligent

For smaller conveyor systems NORD DRIVESYSTEMS also has a large range of low maintenance bevel gear, parallel shaft and worm geared motors in Unicase housings, which have already proven themselves in many agricultural applications due to their robustness, durability and efficiency. All NORD geared motors can be controlled with frequency inverters such as the NORDAC LINK field distributor. This results in considerable benefits such as rapid commissioning and simple parameterisation according to the process requirements as well as variable speed operation and load-independent speed control.

These benefits combine with adjustable acceleration ramps for low wear operation, efficiency-optimised motor operation as well as integrated safety functions, so that the extra costs for a frequency inverter soon pay for themselves.

As standard, NORD frequency inverters are equipped with a powerful PLC, which reduces the load on the higher level controller and performs autonomous control tasks. The freely programmable PLC processes data from sensors and actuators and if necessary initiates a sequence control and communicates drive and application data to the control centre and networked components.
