    New AE-CLOUD2 IoT Kit enables rapid development of Cloud-Connected Applications

    Mouser Electronics, Inc., the authorized global distributor with the newest semiconductors and electronic components, is now stocking the AE-CLOUD2 LTE IoT Connectivity Kit from Renesas Electronics. The AE-CLOUD2 kit offers a complete hardware and software reference design, allowing developers to evaluate cellular connectivity options and quickly create low power wide area (LPWA) cellular Internet of Things (IoT) applications. With support for Cat-M1, Cat-NB1, GSM/GPRS, and GPS plus global RF certification, the AE-CLOUD2 kit offers an ideal solution to connect IoT sensors and devices to 4G LTE networks throughout the world.

    The Renesas AE-CLOUD2 kit, available from Mouser Electronics, features a Synergy S5D9 microcontroller baseboard with an Arm Cortex-M4 core, 2 MBytes of Code flash, 640 KBytes of RAM, and 64 KBytes of data flash. The kit also boasts a Quectel BG96 LTE Cat M1/Cat NB1/EGPRS modem module for cellular connectivity and a Qualcomm Atheros GT202 Wi-Fi module for wireless connectivity.

    The AE-CLOUD2 kit’s microcontroller board features an impressive array of sensors, including an environmental sensor, ambient light sensor, audio sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer. Providing the tools necessary to rapidly develop and prototype IoT applications, the AE-CLOUD2 kit includes a USB device interface, Seeed Grove connector interface, Digilent Pmod interface header, and Arduino-compatible expansion headers, as well as a J-Link on-board debugging probe.

    The AE-CLOUD2 kit also includes ample software to quickly and easily connect to leading cloud services. Renesas’ Synergy Enterprise Cloud Toolbox Demo allows developers to connect to cloud services from Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft Azure. The Medium One Prototyping Sandbox is a cloud-based platform that supports the rapid development of IoT applications with a ready-to-use application programming interface (API).
