    Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited introduces electric cars

    For the first time, Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) has introduced two electric cars (e-cars) for official purpose at corporate office as part of reducing pollution in the city.

    APEPDCL Chairman and Managing Director H Y Dora on Sunday flagged off the new electric cars at his office. These cars are supplied by EESL (Energy Efficiency Services Ltd) on monthly rental basis.

    Speaking on the occasion, Dora said the electric cars are 100 per cent eco-friendly as they run on electrical power engines. The cars do not emit toxic gases or smoke as it runs on clean energy source. They are entirely charged by the electricity, do not need to buy any fuel or gas. One can save huge amount of money. These cars worked on auto system and have 30 kilo watts power motor.

    EESL has given six-year service warranty and Rs 1 lakh km battery warranty on these cars. APEPDCL has sanctioned a total of 20 DC electric charging stations. 12 units have already been installed by Exicom Tele systems, a Delhi-based company has been given contract for setting up these stations and its maintenance and repairs, he said.

    He also added that in addition, EESL also installed 15 Amps AC charging points at APEPDCL Corporate office, Circle office, Collector’s Bunglow, Collector’s Office and GVMC. In these charging points, a car would be charged in 6 hours. The cost of charging for one unit is only Rs 6.95 paise. Hence the cost of expenditure for travel to One km distance is only for Rs 1, he added.
