“Autonomous Anything” Key Talking Point at the 8th Edition of MathWorks Annual MATLAB EXPO

MathWorks, the leading developer of mathematical computing software for engineers and scientists, successfully concluded the eighth edition of its annual conference, MATLAB EXPO. The EXPO, one of India’s premier events for research and engineering communities, was hosted in Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad on the 20th, 25thand 27th of April, 2017 respectively.

The EXPO featured presentations and workshops by MathWorks technical professionals and customers on a broad range of topics and applications of MATLAB and Simulink. The key industry players, including Robert Bosch, BEL, TAFE, Philips, Continental, NAL, Mahindra & Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki, presented their success stories about how MATLAB and Simulink are accelerating the pace of engineering and science. Jim Tung, MathWorks fellow, presented the keynote address on ‘How to build an autonomous anything’. The EXPO brought together more than 2200 engineers, scientists, and researchers to learn more about MATLAB and Simulink. The exhibition area showcased solutions from MathWorks partners.

Said Kishore Raomanaging director of MathWorks India, “We see MATLAB EXPO as a platform where engineers get a glimpse into how leading companies are using MATLAB and Simulink to constantly improve and innovate their services. In this year’s Expo, participants showed more interest in tracks like Data Analytics and Technical Computing and the Developing Smart Systems technology. Customer presentations demonstrated pioneering usage of MathWorks products and solutions to develop complex systems for a range of commercial and defense applications.  Through our solutions, we look forward to enable more customers to showcase their success stories in the coming years.”

     Highlights from each city included:

In Bangalore, a speaker from TAFE discussed ‘how he utilizes Simulink and Model-Based Design to develop an electronic control system, covering various phases such as requirements tracing, modeling, and code generation in the process’

    • In Pune, a speaker from TATA Motors discussed ‘how TATA Motors is developing the Auto Clutch Control Module (ACCM) using MATLAB and Simulink’.
    • In Hyderabad, a speaker from ADE (Aeronautical Development Establishment) discussed ‘how ADE developed a detailed equation and physical component-based model of a servo valve controlled electro-hydraulic flight control actuator using MATLAB and Simulink’
