Electronics Hub Likely to be Set Up in Yamuna Expressway

An electronics and mobile accessories hub could become a reality in the Yamuna Expressway area, with several companies have shown interest in the region for investment in the electronics sector primarily due to the upcoming international airport in Jewar.

Officials said that preliminary talks were held between the Yamuna Expressway Authority and the Indian Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA), in the presence of UP cabinet minister Sidharth Nath Singh, over the requirement of land for setting up an electronics and mobile accessories hub in the region.
While ICEA has been asked to come up with a concrete proposal where 250 acres of land may be sourced for them, the electronics hub is expected to bring investments worth Rs 50,000 crore to the region and create jobs opportunities for the local youths. Earlier, on Thursday, UP’s minister for MSME Sidharth Nath Singh tweeted, “Met with Indian Cellular and Electronics Association along with UP MSME and YEIDA to discuss (with) ICEA for setting up cellular and electronics park in UP.”

While sources in the Authority maintain that only preliminary talks were held with ICEA officials in the presence of the minister, if approved, the region can expect big investments from the electronics and mobile accessories hub.

“There is no proposal right now as ICEA officials were collecting information about an electronics and mobile accessories hub in the Yamuna expressway region. They have been asked to come up with a concrete proposal for the same,” said Arun Vir Singh, CEO of YEIDA.
