Indianapolis 500: Mouser-Molex Sponsored IndyCar Revs Up for

Team Mouser is busy gearing up for the biggest IndyCar race of the season, the Indianapolis 500 on May 28. Qualifying for the 101st running of the famed Indianapolis 500 took place May 20–21.

Australian driver James Davison will take the wheel of the Mouser- and Molex-sponsored IndyCar at this weekend’s Indy 500 after championship driver Sebastien Bourdais was injured on the third lap of his qualification attempt on May 24, 2071. Bourdais, suffering multiple fractures to the pelvis and a broken right hip, underwent successful surgery for his injuries on the same evening. Bourdais won the opening race of the season, the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on March 12.

Mouser Electronics, the authorized global distributor with the newest semiconductors and electronic components, is proud to partner with valued supplier Molex to sponsor the No. 18 Dale Coyne Racing team in this year’s Verizon IndyCar Series. The 2017 season marks the 22nd season of the IndyCar Series.

Mouser first sponsored IndyCar racing in 2011 as an inventive way to communicate its performance-driven business model and promote the newest technologies and how they affect the high-tech world of IndyCar racing. The Mouser- and Molex-sponsored car won the Indianapolis 500 in 2013.

Todd McAtee, Mouser Electronics’ Vice President, Americas Business Development stated, “Our thoughts are with Sebastien and his family at this time. He has been an integral part of Team Mouser’s IndyCar success the last three seasons, and we are fully behind him as he recovers. We will be on the edge of our seats, eagerly watching as James and the team compete on the legendary oval track.”

“Molex is committed to hard work and high performance just like this hard-charging team. We were shocked to see Sebastien’s accident and thankful he will make a full recovery and be back in the driver’s seat soon,” said Fred Bell, Vice President of Global Distribution for Molex. “We wish James Davison the very best of luck as he prepares for the Indianapolis 500. As a sponsor of the Number 18 IndyCar with Mouser, we’re highlighting our commitment to developing and applying new solutions that move the auto industry forward.”

After the Indianapolis 500, the series travels to the Detroit Grand Prix June 3–4 and then to the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth on June 10. The series will feature eight more events, culminating with the season finale on September 17 at Sonoma, California.
