ROHM and Litmus Automation Partner to Offer an Optimized IoT Solution for Smart Factories

ROHM and Litmus Automation today announced their collaboration on an IoT solution for smart factories that combine ROHM sensor and sub-GHz technologies with Litmus Automation’s LoopEdge gateway and LoopCloud platform.

Multiple ROHM sensors nodes are installed in industrial and factory equipment to monitor key parameters for improving performance and prevent unexpected failures. Sensor data is processed using ARM M0 and M3 core MCUs before being sent via Wi-SUN for collection and analysis at the Edge with Litmus Automation’s LoopEdge platform. The data can then be transmitted to LoopCloud to enable real-time monitoring and machine learning.

“ROHM is a leading supplier of sensors, wireless communication ICs, modules, and other semiconductor-based products. This partnership will allow us to provide an optimized end-to-end IoT solution for the industrial space utilizing Litmus Automation’s software,” said Satya Dixit, Senior Director of Solutions Marketing at ROHM. “Our collaboration is a natural fit that opens up new market opportunities for achieving a flexible, fully connected system, with Digital Twins in the Cloud that will replicate the physical systems while reducing energy consumption and downtime due to unexpected failures, providing our customers with a competitive advantage.”

ROHM will be exhibiting at CES 2018 in Las Vegas at the Tech West Sands Expo, Veronese #2505, on January 9-12. Demonstrations will include a tabletop Smart Factory demo and interactive Gumball Machine integrating an Arduino MCU along with ROHM’s color sensor, motor driver, Wi-SUN module, and sensor shield for communication with an Intel NUC powered by LoopEdge. Sensor data is streamed to LoopCloud for real-time analysis, control, and visualization. A PLC is also used for control of system power.

“Through this partnership, ROHM will be able to bring the full value of LoopEdge and LoopCloud for industrial applications,” said Vatsal Shah, CEO, and co-founder of Litmus Automation. “ROHM is a market leader with a proven track record, which will help us deliver immediate value to this key sector.”
