Unveiling new AD242x automotive audio bus transceivers for multi-mic applications

Mouser Electronics, Inc. and Analog Devices, Inc. have introduced to the distribution channel new transceivers in the AD242x automotive Audio Bus® (A²B) series. The A²B transceivers have been delivering high-fidelity digital audio to advanced, feature-rich automotive infotainment systems, while reducing the weight of cable harnesses by up to 75 percent, for over three product generations.

As an authorized distributor, Mouser Electronics is focused on the rapid introduction of new products and technologies, giving customers an edge and helping speed time to market. Over 800 semiconductor and electronic component manufacturers count on Mouser to help them introduce their products into the global marketplace. Mouser’s customers can expect 100% certified, genuine products that are fully traceable from each manufacturer.

A²B is a high-bandwidth digital bus that can transport I²S audio and I²C digital control data together with clock and power over significant distances, requiring only a single unshielded twisted pair cable.

The AD242x transceivers, available from Mouser Electronics, enable expanded use cases for microphone connectivity, including voice recognition, personal audio zones, and active noise cancellation in the automotive and transportation, building technology, and consumer application spaces. The transceivers allow developers to tailor system-level performance to the most demanding electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements, including to specific requirements of individual OEMs.

The transceivers can connect directly to general-purpose digital signal processors (DSPs), field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), application specific integrated circuits (ASICs), microphones, analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), digital-to-analog converters (DACs), and codecs through a multichannel I²S/TDM interface (on the AD2428 and AD2429 variants).

The AD242x A²B transceivers are available in a compact, 32-lead 5 mm × 5 mm package and are fully pin compatible, reducing time to market and simplifying the upgrade process. The advanced features of the A²B transceivers dramatically lower overall system costs, making them an ideal choice for applications such as autonomous transportation, hands-free/speech recognition, Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), conference rooms, small stage audio, and premium home theater and automotive audio.
