‘YUVAi’, the new version of Responsible AI for youth

The “YUVAi- Youth for Unnati and Vikas with AI” program has been launched by the National e-Governance Division of the Ministry of Electronics & IT of the Government of India. The initiatives are intended to close the widening skills gap and prepare the next generation for the digital world.

With the help of YUVAi, students in grades 8 through 12 around the country will get a deeper understanding of AI, acquire AI skills, and be empowered to build and apply AI with a focus on the needs of humans. Additionally, the course provides students with a hands-on learning opportunity to comprehend and recognize how the technology of artificial intelligence may solve pressing issues and promote inclusive national growth.

There will be three stages to the program. Teachers will be chosen to identify kids from their particular schools and provide the organizing team with their information during the initial phase. Next, to help registered students comprehend the ideation process, specialists will lead online orientation classes on fundamental AI topics. A 120-second video explaining a suggested AI-enabled solution for any of the eight core themes will be accepted by students (individually or in teams of two). These themes are agrarian, medical services, skills training, ecosystem and renewable technology, public transit, regional development, smart cities, and law and justice.

In the second round, selected students will participate in online deep-dive Artificial intelligence training. A three-day in-person boot camp will be planned to offer sufficient coaching and direction from YUVAi trainers. Students will use their newly acquired knowledge to create AI-enabled innovations or projects on any of the eight major themes after the mentorship camps and submit their finished works. The best AI-based solutions will then be revealed and invited to a national presentation and award ceremony.

In its most recent version (Responsible AI for Youth), the program gave a select group of students the chance to visit Gandhinagar, Gujarat, where they may meet the Hon. Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, and present their ideas during Digital India Week 2022.
