New Littelfuse LSP05GI Series Thermally Protected SPD 10kV/5kA Surge Protection Module Certified to IEC/EN 61643-11

littlefuseHelps lighting designers meet the latest luminaire testing standards around the world

Littelfuse, Inc.,  the global leader in circuit protection, on October 13, 2016, introduced a new series of thermally protected surge protective devices that provide robust transient overvoltage protection for outdoor and commercial LED lighting fixtures. The LSP05GI Series LED Lighting Surge Protection Module is capable of providing 10kV/5kA surge protection and is certified to IEC/EN 61643-11. Its surge handling capability enhances an LED lighting fixture’s surge immunity and extends its operating lifetime.

Littelfuse thermally protected varistor technology guards against hazards affecting a light or a facility due to ‘end-of-life’ or extreme surge conditions. It is available in both parallel-connected and series-connected formats. The series connection option disconnects the power to protect the luminaire; the parallel connection disconnects itself at end-of-life and keeps the luminaire powered.

Applications include roadway lighting, parking garage lighting, wash wall lighting, traffic lighting, flood lighting, digital signage, tunnel lighting, and street lighting.

“The LSP05GI Series LED Lighting Surge Protection Module is suitable for use around the world because it helps luminaire manufacturers meet the latest IEC/EN 60598-1 Standard,” said Todd Phillips, global marketing manager for LED lighting at Littelfuse.

LSP05GI Series LED Lighting Surge Protection Modules offer these key benefits:
    • IEC 61643-11 and EN61643-11 certification of these modules allow luminaire manufacturers to meet IEC/EN 60598-1, the international testing standard for luminaires
    • Double-insulated cable wire makes them suitable for use in luminaires designed for Class I and Class II installations
    • A built-in LED indicator alerts maintenance personnel to the need for replacement

    Availability
The LSP05GI Series is available in bulk in minimum order quantities of 80 pieces. Sample requests can be placed through authorized Littelfuse distributors worldwide. For a listing of Littelfuse distributors, please visit Littelfuse.com.
