Arrow Electronics, Inc. is showcasing its end-to-end Internet of Things (IoT) services and solutions at IBM InterConnect 2016 next week, including the Arrow-built DragonBoard 410c now enabled by IBM’s Watson IoT Platform. Arrow engineers will lead a hands-on workshop at the conference to demonstrate how easy it is to implement a full IoT solution using the DragonBoard 410c and IBM’s Watson IoT service.

“Innovators like KineticCare are creating incredible IoT applications with Arrow’s DragonBoard—these IoT innovations will transform and improve people’s lives.”
“Arrow Electronics is uniquely positioned to help guide IoT innovation forward,” said Chakib Loucif, vice president of engineering at Arrow. “Innovators like KineticCare are creating incredible IoT applications with Arrow’s DragonBoard—these IoT innovations will transform and improve people’s lives.”
The Arrow-built DragonBoard 410c is a high-performance and low-cost development board designed to support rapid software development and prototyping. It is ideal for creating embedded computing and IoT products, including next-generation robotics, cameras, medical devices, vending machines, smart buildings, digital signage and gaming consoles, among others. With the addition of IBM’s Watson IoT Platform, DragonBoard 410c developers can quickly create, deploy, and manage applications in the cloud—without having to deal with any complicated, underlying infrastructure.
The Arrow-built DragonBoard 410c is the first development board based on the quad-core, 64-bit capable Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 410 processor. It features advanced processing power, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity and GPS—all packed into a board the size of a credit card.
Arrow is participating in a DragonBoard-enabled IoT demonstration on the InterConnect Expo floor with KineticCare, grand-prize winners of the 2016 AT&T Developer Summit Hackathon. KineticCare’s health-monitoring application collects and reports the vital stats of a user, detecting a cardiac anomaly and automatically calling pre-programmed emergency services or family members that can quickly lend assistance. KineticCare built their innovative application on the DragonBoard 410c with IBM’s Watson IoT Platform.
“We developed our award-winning healthcare solution using Arrow’s DragonBoard 410c, and we are expanding its Predictive Analytics capabilities with assistance from IBM’s Watson technology,” said Kevin Wolf, mobile/IoT engineer and founder at KineticCare. “The KineticCare team is looking forward to demonstrating our solution with Arrow and IBM next week at InterConnect.”
IoT solutions that deliver a compelling return-on-investment for end users highlight Arrow’s core offerings in global components, enterprise computing and systems integration. Arrow’s broad IoT offerings include services aimed specifically at helping makers and startups get their products to market quickly and cost-effectively; Arrow provides the design engineering support and supply chain connections to help transition DragonBoard prototypes into commercial products.
