Meet the World’s Smallest 12th Gen Intel Core-Powered Developer Board – AAEON’s UP Squared i12

    At just 85.6mm x 90mm, the UP Squared i12 combines space-efficiency with high-powered computing.

AAEON’s UP brand, known for its sophisticated developer board range, have announced the release of the UP Squared i12, the smallest developer board with 12th Generation Intel Core/Celeron Processor 7000 Series Processors. The 85.6mm x 90mm form factor is the latest to move into its third generation, and much like recent releases from the brands UP Xtreme and UP Squared Pro collections, the UP Squared i12 displays a number of distinct upgrades on its predecessor.

With 12th Generation Intel Core processors and onboard LPDDR5 on such a tiny board, the UP Squared i12 targets a number of key markets with its potential to be deployed as a low-cost, space-efficient, and high-performance foundation for developers to work with. AAEON believe the greater bandwidth speed offered by the board’s LPDDR5 will be beneficial to projects in the smart retail space, being particularly suited to applications such as frictionless shopping and intelligent vending machines.

Two MIPI-CSI camera connectors are accessible via the UP Squared i12’s carrier board, meaning users can take advantage of the board’s compatibility with a widely available and cost-effective camera accessory. A well-rounded platform, the board’s display interface consists of a dual HDMI 1.4b/DP 1.2 stack connector and DP 1.4b via USB Type-C port, making it a cost-effective solution for developers looking to build machine vision projects.

Via its display interface, users benefit from three simultaneous 4K displays @60Hz, which combined with its processors and expansion options offers broad market potential in healthcare imaging and smart retail. The UP Squared i12 hosts an M.2 2280 M-Key and an M.2 2230 E-Key slot for AI acceleration and storage module installation to emphasize its appeal to these markets, while also being home to a Raspberry Pi-compatible 40-pin GPIO to make the UP Squared i12 easy to integrate into existing projects.
